We are pleased to report that the Project Noe house was completed as planned in late May 2010. It’s interesting to note that despite the economy, the Project Noe home was already under contract before construction was even completed. The home sold for $3,350,000, and is currently the highest sales price for a single-family home in the Noe Valley district for 2010.

The new owners have since moved in and we wish them lots of fond memories in the home for years to come. Stay tuned for the next Project Noe house, which should begin in the coming months. Read more »

By the end of April 2010, the Project Noe house is only a few weeks away from completion. The front door is now installed and is ready for some paint. The garage door and surrounding trim are also ready to be painted black. The glass showers and glass in the railings are some of the next items to be installed. The large sliding barn door was installed and is a nice functional touch for the media room.

The limestone fireplace in the living room is an elegant focal point for the room. The backsplashes in the kitchen are made of the same Walker Zanger Helsinki Winter Mist marble as seen in the powder room bathroom. The Uline wine fridge in the kitchen and Sub Zero wine fridge in the downstairs bar area have also been installed. Read more »

Since opening in 1995, the Noe Valley Bakery has been a popular favorite among locals for their freshly baked cookies, artisan breads, cakes, pastries, and pies. Everything is made on the premises, all baked fresh throughout the day with natural ingredients. I usually find myself stopping in after a lunch somewhere on 24th street, craving something sweet like a cookie or cup cake to satisfy my sweet tooth. Read more »

A few weeks after our last post, changes included the installation of the Seagrass marble countertops on the kitchenette/bar in the lower level. All the tiling in the lower level bath is done, the trim and window casings are also installed. All the doors in the house are now hung. These doors are all solid core wood and nearly 1′ 3/4″ thick.

In the kitchen, the |Walker Zanger| Silver Dusk marble slabs have been installed and look great. The faucet in the kitchen island sink is by |Dornbracht| as well as in the prep sink. Read more »

Early March 2010

By early March 2010, the garage door was installed, but still had to be painted black as does the trim around it. You can also see the small hedges were planted in front of the garage. As seen in the pictures, cabinets in the lower level were installed and are ready for the marble countertop to be installed. In the third picture, tile in the lower level bathroom was re-installed, because we did not like the color of the tile first selected. We decided to use this moss green tile on the walls to match better with the finishes and flooring.

The  next picture shows the elevator cab finally installed and the walnut floor carried through. There is still some work left to do to the cab such as finishing the wall panels, which will occur during painting. Pictures of the living room show the railing that was installed around the main stairs and a makeshift rack used to store all the remaining baseboards and trim waiting to be installed in the home. As February rolled around, much has changed in regards to the interior of the Project Noe house. Installation of the walnut hardwood floors was completed, along with the railings for the main staircase in the house and on the backyard stairs. The thick marble slabs in the master bathroom are a honed Calacatta marble by |Walker Zanger|. It took 3 slabs of this marble to cover the 9 foot tall walls of the nearly 7 foot by 5 foot shower. This luxurious steam shower will feature |Dornbracht| Thermostatic dials which have a built-in thermometer to ensure the desired water temperature. The shower will also have 4 body sprays, a rain shower, a handheld and a steam outlet. Read more »

By mid January, the exterior of the Project Noe house is nearly complete. The cedar shingles were carried down to the street level, the trim around the garage will be painted black. Along the stairs that lead up to the front door, step lights with copper covers illuminate the Brazilian black slate. The walk ways, backyard, and master deck all have this black slate, adding a consistent look to the home that contrasts well with the cedar shingles. Read more »

Exterior angle view
Just in time for the rainy season most of the exterior is complete. Overall the shingles came out great, the black moulding and the copper gutters complete the look. Now we are able to focus on the interior, which would include installing recessed lighting, various electrical, and covering the walls with sheet rock.

November 2009

By early November, it was time to begin working on installing the cedar shingles to the the exterior of the Project Noe home. First step required wrapping the house to help ensure the home is protected from the elements, then came shingle installation. We decided to go with cedar shingles for the exterior because they are easy to maintain, very durable, and we like the natural look of shingles as they weather over time. White or black trim looks great with cedar shingles, but we ended up going with a black paint for the crown moulding.
